The project aims to develop the "Koitajoki-Tolvajärvi" protected areas (PA) as a centre of nature conservation and nature tourism.

Project aims

  • Development of cross-border co-operation relying on joint activities in nature- and culture-based tourism;
  • Promotion of the local tourist business based on sustainability principles and stewardship of the natural and cultural heritage of the area;
  • Creation of the pre-requisites for local sustainable development and new job opportunities;
  • Environmental education and awareness-raising;
  • Marketing of the area.
